CHAPTER 33. THE DISGRACEFUL MEANS WHICH MEN TAKE TO SEEK FOR WEALTH AND HONORS.
1. As Choo He observes, there ought to be, at the beginning of the chapter, 孟子曰, "Mencius said". The phrase 而处 (up. 2nd tone) 室者 is not easily managed in translating.

In the meantime the husband, knowing nothing of all this, came in with a jaunty air, carrying himself proudly to his wife and concubine.
